The signs and symptoms of cavities vary depending on their extent and location.
Their are many signs and symptoms of a decaying tooth and the following are the most common:
1:TOOTH ACHE
This is spontaneous pain or pain that occurs without any apparent cause.
Your tooth may throb or ache and you may find your self poking your tongue up against it.

2:TOOTH SENSITIVITY
Your teeth become mild to sharp pain when eating or drinking something sweet, hot or cold.
You find that one of your tooth is much more sensitive to changes in temperature than usual.

3:DISCOLORED OR DARK SPOTS ON A TOOTH
It might be a white spot, dark spot or discolored spot depending on the stage of decay it’s undergoing by the time you notice it.

4:VISIBLE HOLES OR PITS IN YOUR TEETH
This is when these holes are referred to as cavities or caries by your dentist and once noticed, one is advised to rush to their dentist as soon as possible to save the tooth.

5:SWELLING OR BLEEDING GUMS
Your gums may look raw, red or swollen especially close to the tooth lining.

6:BAD BREATH
Bad breath could just be a result of the onions you ate for lunch but bad breath that doesn’t go away even after brushing or using a mouth wash could mean be a sign of a cavity.
Persistent bad breath could also be a sign of gum disease.

However if tooth decay is in it’s early stages, you may not experience any symptoms.

This is why regular visits to your dentist are important.

Your dentist can help you you identify and address the early stages of a tooth decay before they worsen.

NB:Make an appointment with your dentist if you experience and see signs of a tooth decay for early attention.
